Workspace Issues

Now, if there is one thing that we seem to spend the most amount of time griping about, its surely the office space we're forced to work in. Now, I'm fairly sure we're not just whinging old ladies just yet (although other people may disagree) so this leads me to think that perhaps we do have a point here. To that end, here is a summary of workspace quality discussions from Joel On Software

Well, it can be important I guess, though I rate the constant "sold out" pepsi machine higher.

Upsides :
-Out of the way and quiet (very little noisy-people traffic)
-Open plan, can communicate easily
-Cool yellow flower in the middle

Downsides :
-Wrist slittingly depressing view
-Open plan, when you want to put your head down and work theres other people to distract you
-Duct tape+cardboard+air con... nuff said.

But at the end of the day, I'd prefer somewhere dingy and quiet, to a ocean view and noisy when it comes to getting work done.

The lack of noise is a really valid point. Personally I'd rather have some reasonable natural light and no duct tape/cardboard falling off the ceiling, but I accept that it does benefit from being a quiet working environment. If we should ever get the opportunity to move, then we should definately try and take this into account.
